Namaste. I’m Dhvani.

I write here at Crumpled Chillies.

This all began in 2011. Back then, it was just a way to save recipes about the things I was learning to cook and didn’t want to forget. Nothing fancy.

By 2015, I had moved countries and started sharing more on Instagram.
Slowly, the posts began to change. They stopped being just about the food on the plate and started to feel more like little stories- about what cooking meant to me, what I missed, and what stayed with me in the quiet moments.

Life moved on in seasons. Some felt heavy and uncertain. Some felt like new beginnings. There were days when the kitchen was my refuge, and days when I didn’t want to step inside at all. Sometimes I cooked without thinking. Other times I stood there feeling unsure, not even quite sure what I needed from the space.

By 2020, I realised I was starting to find my voice in the way I blogged about food. I was enjoying telling stories or anecdotes that came from my nostalgia and memory of food as it shaped me.

To be honest, cooking hasn’t always been easy for me. Sometimes it gave me comfort whereas at other times it felt like a weight I wasn’t ready to carry. Crumpled Chillies grew out of all that. I won't call it a just a food blog anymore.

It has started to become a place where memory and kitchen meet, where I do write about food for the most part. but I also write about everything that surrounds it — love, family, grief, rituals, homesickness, and those small moments that linger in your heart. The things that are hard to put into words, but still need to be held gently.

If you’ve ever felt a little far from home, or unsure in your kitchen,or like you’re carrying a lot quietly inside — this space is for you, as much as it is for me.

I am glad you're here.
